TERCERA ETAPA, FIN DE LA MARATON

Buenas tardes a tod@s!!

Vamos a por el tercer día de competición, la segunda parte de la etapa maratón, 130 km por pleno desierto... y sí, si suena duro, lo es más hacerlo!!! Ha sido una de las etapas con más abandonos de la historia de la Titan, con eso lo decimos todo...

Etapa entre Tourza y Tagueroumt

Comenzamos el día a las 6:00 am como todos los días, pero hoy tocaba recoger el saco! La noche la verdad es que fue dificil, ya que dormir en una colchoneta de playa no es lo más cómodo del mundo. Además la cadera de Josu seguía dando guerra, y a eso había que añadir el tendón de Aquiles de Jorge...

Pero nosotros seguimos con energía!!

En esta etapa, salimos los tres juntos, permaneciendo así hasta el último avituallamiento, en el que Josu se quedó para recuperarse de su alergia.

Pasamos del paisaje montañoso del Atlas a adentrarnos casi de lleno en el desierto del Sahara. Espectacular, no hay otra palabra que pueda definir lo que empezamos a ver, el DESIERTO en todo su esplendor!!

La primera parte de la etapa fue muy muy rápida, con medias de 23, 24 km/h durante la primera hora y media, pero que a partir del segundo avituallamiento empezó la arena, empezamos a tener que bajar de la bici y "patear". Calor y arena no es buena combinación para ir en bici!

Muchos km sin ver nada, ninguna referencia a lo lejos y muchas pedaladas hasta que empezamos a vislumbrar el final de la etapa. Aquí Jorge pegó un buen tirón, adelantando a más de 7 corredores en los últimos 4 km, entrando Paco a 1 minuto y Josu, que vamos a decir de Josu, nos impresionó teniendo el valor, las ganas y por qué no decirlo, los cojones de llegar en más de 9 horas y terminar la que muchos califican como la ETAPA MÁS DURA DE LA HISTORIA DE LA TITAN.

Una vez llegados al campamento, tocaba descanso, recuperar bien y afrontar la etapa siguiente, la cuarta!!

We passed over the mountains of the Atlas to delve almost completely in the Sahara desert. Spectacular, no other word that can define what we begin to see the DESERT at its best!
The first part of the stage was very very fast, with averages of 23, 24 km / h on average during the first hour and a half, but from the second sand supplies began, we started to have to get off the bike and "kick ". Heat and sand is not a good combination for cycling!

Many miles without seeing anything, any reference in the distance and many pedaling until we started to see the end of the stage. Here Jorge hit a good pull, advancing more than 7 runners in the last 4 km, entering Paco and Josu 1 minute, let's say Josu, impressed us having the courage, desire and why not say, the balls to reach more than 9 hours and finish by many as the HARDEST STAGE oF tHE HISTORY oF tHE TITAN.
